Bonsoir Qqun connaîtrait-il l'endroit exact du crash de cet avion (B26) ? 552nd Bomb Squadron, 386th Bomb Group, “ELEANOR” 334214 RU-L was assigned to Major Ervin Rodgers, he named the plane after his wife who was an Air WAC with the rank of Private. Major Rodgers was also the Assistant Operations Officer in the 386th Group. He had a pet dog by the name of, “Flak”. A parachute was made for the English Cocker who flew on 21 bombing missions with the Major. They were shot down on August 11, 1944 on Group mission number 252. The target was a railroad bridge located at Criel, France. “ELEANOR” was struck by a burst of flak in the left engine; it had to be shut down prior to starting the bomb run to the target. Their bomb load was jettisoned into an empty field. Seconds later the right side of the ship was heavily damage by flak strikes, which severed an oil line on the only engine still running, but losing power. The pressure chamber for the hydraulic system had exploded, knocking out the entire system. The crew began bailing out at 2500 feet. The Major finally got out at 800 feet of altitude. His seven-man crew all landed safely, two of the crew became POW’s and the other five were picked up and hidden by members of the French Underground for some 18 days, until the American Army overtook the area. Bonsoir, cette histoire me dit quelque chose, en faite le chien avait un harnais qui devait s'accrocher à celui du pilote, il n'avait pas de parachute à propement parler, enfin à vérifier, amicalement jph |

Pas facile a prendre en photo mais il me semble bien que c'est de ce pont dont ont parle. Pont de laversine entre Saint Max et Creil. Voie de chemin de fer audessous de l'oise. 
Donc ici, vu de Saint Leu d'Esserent sur le Chateau de Laversine (Saint Max) avec le petit therain en premier plan avec le pont aujourd'hui. Il y a des photo de l'epoque mais je ne trouver pas. Peutetre dans le GEMOB? Puis en 14-18
