Hello everyone. I have joined your Forum because of my interest in Operation Gain. My father Trooper Herbert Castelow MM 1st SAS was one of the original 12 in the Garstin Stick and escaped from the landing ground trap at La Ferte Allais. He then was on the run for 10 weeks in action with the Maquis and the US 5th Division. Next week 6th October my husband and I are going to visit the Garstin Stick Memorial and the Marrisel Cemetary to pay our respects and to lay a wreath and crosses. Later on in the week we will be visiting the family of Michel Leduc the Resistance Leader in the Vert Le Petit area who we have been in close contact with since the early 1990s. Welcome here. I know Operation Gain very well, as the killing happened in the town where I grew up (Noailles). And my great grandfather in the French resistance helped find the bodies... I also read the book by Damien Lewis. Please tell me if you need some info. |
